    quick hit: friday night friends

My friend, the marvelous Laura Beck, is on Jezebel this week with an article about "emotional eating," which, you know, is eating anytime you have an emotion. I second that emotion!

Melissa of Vibrant Wanderings (Montessori Hero!) is giving away a $50 gift certificate to Montessori Services, which could buy you like a jillion little trinkety vacuums and stuff to stick in I Spy bottles or sensory bins, or the glass pitcher I covet, or some child-size garden tools which are heartbreakingly adorable, or a lot of other things.

My old buddy Souther and his wife Monica are doing this traveling art installation that you should really go to, should it come through your town. They are truly lovely people, the likes of which you don't meet many times in your life.

Dee is gonna take you on a tour of the Brooklyn Museum, because you are stuck in boring old Washington with your jerky kids who got colds on purpose, probably, to spite you.

Have a nice weekend, you guys, and sign that thing to make the Boy Scouts stop being A-holes (or just write off the BSA, because they're a private organization who can be horrible if they want to)!

Now I'm picturing a giant sensory bin full of nothing but beans and tiny vacuum cleaners.

I hope those colds pass quickly. It feels like both of my kids get them every time I start trying to have anything that vaguely resembles a social life. I don't really blame them, of course, but you know.

Bummer, that installation has come and gone here. How did you know I was trying to spite you with my post?? You're too clever. I already signed the petition. My 7 y/o would love to join, but won't b/c he knows their stance on civil rights is different from ours.
